About Belljar
Belljar is a cybersecurity company that specializes in providing enterprise-grade security solutions for businesses. The company was founded with the goal of helping organizations protect their sensitive data and systems from cyber threats. Belljar offers three main products: Web Application Firewall (WAF), Spam Protection, and an advanced DDoS protection solution. These products are designed to work together to provide a comprehensive security solution for businesses of all sizes.
Building a new generation Cybersecurity company
Outroll had an internal need to build self hosted solutions for our own security needs. We were looking for a way to protect our sensitive data and systems from cyber threats, and we wanted to build a solution that was easy to use and deploy. Existing solutions failed to address some of our basic needs, especially around protecting legacy systems and on-premise solutions.
We decided to build our own solutions, and we started by developing a Web Application Firewall (WAF) that could be deployed on-premise or in the cloud. The WAF was designed to protect web applications from common threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and other vulnerabilities. The WAF was built using RUST, which allowed us to create a fast and efficient solution that could handle large amounts of traffic without memory risks whilst being robust against common injection attacks and vulnerabilities.
The second product we developed was a proof-of-work captcha product that could be used to protect web applications from automated and bot attacks. This captcha product removes the need for traditional CAPTCHAs, which can be difficult for users to solve and can lead to frustration. In addition to the proof of work, we also incorporated an API WAF that inspects the user submissions for spam and other malicious content.
The third product we developed was a DDoS protection solution that could be used to protect web applications from distributed denial of service attacks. This product is embedded into our WAF, and allows servers to handle millions of requests per second without crashing.
Adoping Belljar in our own Ventures and offering it to other businesses
Our strategy was simple, adopt our own products internally and then offer them to other businesses. Once our own ventures were using Belljar, we decided to offer them to other businesses as well. We quickly integrated our WAF and captcha products into third party web applications that we manage, and we started to see a lot of interest from other businesses.
Partnering Belljar with Open Source Projects
We realized that many businesses were looking for a way to protect their web applications from cyber threats, but they didn't have the resources or expertise to build their own solutions. With that in mind, we decided to partner with open source projects such as VestaCP to offer our WAF and captcha products as part of their solutions for free. This will allow us to reach a wider audience and help more businesses protect their web applications from cyber threats.
Building a threat intelligence database
Belljar collects vast amounts of data from our WAF, DDoS captcha products, and we use this data to build a threat intelligence database. We leverage this database to identify malicious actors, identify new patterns of attack, and to train our machine learning models to continuously improve our products.
